The Love Monster

Howdy. I was recently given some advice from my grandfather about making art that not only looks cool, but that people want to buy as well. SO, I thought that I would keep up with my strange creature theme, but add an element of familiarity to it. I chose the Love statue by Robert Indiana and added a little guy to it. The little love monster was inspired by a rutabaga with some really gnarly arm-like things all over it. The finished piece doesn't quite look like a rutabaga, but that doesn't bother me. Any ways, I am thinking about maybe getting this image printed on t-shirts in a couple different colors. What do you think?

This is one of my produce pieces. Just like the others shown so far, I drew it (but this time with pen on brown paper), scanned it, set it to multiply and then colored it from beneath. Hope you like it!

Here is another finished image! Once again, I went barreling through the produce section at Whole Foods and found some turmeric. I must say, I love plants like ginger, turmeric, rutabagas, turnips, radishes, and whatever else is a little gnarly looking. My last piece was celery root. I honestly am not sure where I am going with these works- I just know that I enjoy making pieces that are both portraits and specimens at the same time.
So anyways, hope you enjoy! :}
